dLab – Tanzania Data Lab

DAR ES SALAAM – Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) Board announced the appointment of new dLab Executive Director Mr. Agapiti Manday on February 1,  2022. Previously, Mr. Manday was the Director of Innovations at dLab.

“I am excited and humbled to serve in the capacity of the Executive Director. I look forward to continuing working with the Board, dLab Directors and the staff to realise our vision. We envision a continent of Africa where data is frequently and effectively used to inform policy and decision-making at all levels,” said Mr. Manday. “We have a strong track record working with the government, fostering partnerships and stakeholders’ engagements aimed at building the national foundation to enhance availability, accessibility, use and impact of data for sustainable development.”

Mr. Manday who is also one of dLab’s co-founders, brings experience working in the data and innovation ecosystem for more than 10 years. He was previously Project Director of the Data for Local Impact Innovation Challenge (DLIIC).

“The Board has great faith in Mr. Manday who has a great track record in strategic and operational management of institutions and programs; We believe he will lead this organisation to greater heights,” said dLab Board Chairperson.

Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) is a world class data and innovation lab that harnesses the potential of the data revolution and the fourth industrial revolution in solving local, regional, and global sustainable development challenges through data and innovation.

Tanzania Data Lab is a progression of the three successful interconnected projects named, Tanzania Data Lab (dLab), Data Zetu and Data for Local Impact Innovation Challenge (DLIIC). The three projects which ran between 2016 and 2019 served as anchors for the Data Collaborative for Local Impact (DCLI) program and were funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and implemented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
